LORD GORDON GORDON
A Musical Comedy
Book by Jeffrey Hatcher
Music and Lyrics by Chan Poling
Arrangements by Robert Elhai
Commissioned by The History Theatre
First produced at Saint Paul's History Theatre in 2018.
"Lord Gordon Gordon" is a rambunctious and clever tale of the rogueish yet sensitive titular character, a self-styled (and entirely false) Lord, "descendent of Lochinvar and the ancient kings of Scotland", who appears one day in the midwest town of Minneapolis, Minnesota and proceeds to swindle the not-so innocent townsfolk and then go on to rob the great New York robber baron Jay Gould, nearly causing a war with Canada! Extremely funny, wildly inventive and romantic, this is a musical in the grand old tradition laced with modern political touches and surreal whimsy.
"The History Theatre is having fun this month, with a world premiere by the popular writing duo known as 'Hatchling': Jeffrey Hatcher (book) and Chan Poling (music). LORD GORDON GORDON is a romp of a musical in the tradition of con man stories like THE MUSIC MAN."
Mr. Poling and Mr. Hatcher are both represented by Jack Tantleff at the Paradigm Agency in New York, NY.
